Al Gilbert has been pastor of Calvary since November, 2002. Prior to becoming pastor, Al served the International Mission Board (IMB) as Special Assistant to the President. In that role he traveled extensively as spokesman for the IMB to Southern Baptists across the country and around the world.

Al has also been pastor of two churches: a mission church in the suburbs of Washington, DC, and Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, VA. God blessed Liberty Baptist with significant growth, with Sunday morning attendance more than doubling.

Al and his wife Karen ("KK") have four adult children: Carissa, Katy, Joshua, and Carmen

Dr. Gary Chapman is Senior Associate Pastor responsible for Adult Discipleship, Marriage Counseling, and Pastoral Care.  He joined Calvary's staff in 1971.

Gary is a nationally known speaker on marriage and family relationships and he regularly conducts weekend seminars around the country and overseas.  He has authored more than six books and other materials on marriage and the family.

Gary and his wife Karolyn have two adult children, Shelley and Derek.

Aldo Barcelo is Associate Pastor / Hispanic Ministries. He joined our staff in the fall of 2004.

He is the Associate Pastor/Hispanic Ministries. Aldo was a pastor and teacher for 23 years in his native country Chile before moving to the United States in 2000, when he was invited by the Baptist Convention of the state of Florida to plant new Hispanic churches in Tampa.

Aldo and his wife Alicia Ana have two grown children: Katty and Jonatán.

Gary Byrum is Associate Pastor/Pastoral Care & Senior Adults. Gary Byrum provides spiritual leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy for senior adult ministry, as it relates to the vision of the Senior Pastor and the church growth ministry. Gary also provides spiritual leadership to the senior adult community, and direction for our pastoral care ministry here at Calvary. Gary is also an active participant in the blended worship services.

Gary and his wife Jan have been members of Calvary since 1987. They have one daughter, Charity.

Steve Hardy is Associate Pastor / Missions. Steve Hardy will give administrative and spiritual leadership to all the missions programs of the church. In this capacity, not only oversee the ongoing overseas missions of the church, but lead Calvary to be a mobilizing church, recruiting and training other churches to become sending churches. Currently Calvary has over 40 members who are serving full time in various Acts 1:8 calls. In addition, the missions' ministry of Calvary is responsible for sending 800 to 1600 short term volunteers to Acts 1:8 opportunities each year.

Steve is married to Becky and they have two children Mary Collins and Meredith.

Dr. Guy Hipp is Associate Pastor / Ministry Coordination. He joined the staff in 1978.

Guy assists Pastor Gilbert in the overall administration of the church. This includes assisting our membership in their needs and concerns, conducting the Calendar Team which authorizes use of church facilities and addresses church calendar issues, and pastoral oversight of Calvary Baptist Day School.

Guy and his wife Jan have two adult children, Joy and Jon.

Greg Huff is Associate Pastor / Instrumental Music.  He joined the staff in 2005.  
Greg is responsible for assisting Larry White in leading the Worship and Music department with an emphasis on the Sanctuary Orchestra, Youth Orchestra, Praise Band, and Leading Worship on Sunday evenings.  Greg returns to the state of North Carolina from Tennessee where he was the Music Associate at Bayside Baptist Church in Harrison, Tennessee.
Greg and his wife Robin have two children, Annie and Jackson.

Rush Hylton is Associate Pastor / Church Growth. He joined the staff at Calvary in 1994.

Rush is responsible for administrative and spiritual leadership of Calvary's church growth ministry. This includes leading, managing, and evaluating the effectiveness and health of each ministry represented on the Church Growth Team. The church growth ministry consists of the Bible Fellowship, Evangelism/New Member Assimilation and Recreation Ministries. Rush is a licensed Church Growth Consultant with Central Church Associates.

Rush and his wife Laura have two children, Heath and Matt.

Dr. Don Mann is Associate Pastor / Communications and Development and has been part of the pastoral staff since 1981.

Dr. Mann leads stewardship development and planned giving and is President of the ProVision Foundation.  He gives leadership to all internal and external communications for Calvary including media relations, the Calvary website, television broadcast, and print communications. 

Don and his wife Diane have three adult children: Brian, Scott, and Stephen.

Dr. Tim McKnight is Associate Pastor/Evangelism & Young Adults. He joined the staff in 2006.

Tim is responsible for coordination, equipping, strategy development and implementation in the areas of evangelism and assimilation. Tim also provides leadership and direction to our young adult community. This includes singles ages 22 – 34 and young marrieds ages 18 – 34. His passion in ministry is to lead and encourage the members and staff of Calvary to fulfill the Great Commission’s call to make disciples. In his last fourteen years of ministry, Tim has served as a youth pastor, itinerate evangelist, Army chaplain, and, most recently, a senior pastor in Alabama.

Tim and his wife Angela have two sons, Noah and Micah, and a daughters, Karissa and MaryAnn.

Kent Oviatt is Associate Pastor / Local Missions. He coordinates and gives leadership to all of our local missions. He also leads Calvary's Deaf Ministry.

Kent came to Calvary in March of 1987 as a technician. He has been involved in many of the technical areas of Support Services, and has also lead the Deaf Ministry. In January of 2004, he was ordained to the Gospel Ministry and is serving with his family full-time as pastor to the Deaf. In 2006, he accepted the position as Associate Pastor ministering specifically to our local missions.

Kent is married to Denise, a work at home mother of two, Jesse and Katy.

Don Schmidt is Associate Pastor / Marriage & Family. He also gives leadership to our Discipleship Ministry by coordinating all CEI (Challenging, Equipping, Involving) classes.

In addition to providing individual and marital counseling, Don is responsible for the ministry areas of Calvary which minister to the families of our congregation through all the circumstances of life.

Prior to joining the staff in 1990, Don and his wife served as members of Calvary for five years while they attended college. Don and his wife Darlene have three children: Ashley, Amber, and Jonathan.

Will Toburen is Associate Pastor / Teacher. He joined the staff at Calvary in 1997.

Will is responsible for giving spiritual and administrative leadership in the area of lay leadership mobilization. He is also responsible for planning and coordination of the Elevate worship service. Will also gives managerial oversight to the Internship Ministry Program.

Will and his wife Julie have three children, Abby, Jackson, and Blake.

Larry White is Associate Pastor / Worship & Music. He was on staff with Calvary from 1971-82 and returned in 1994.

Larry is responsible for Calvary's overall music program and the special musical presentations given throughout the year and at Christmas and Easter. These special presentations are widely attended by people from the surrounding communities and cities.

Larry and his wife Pat have two children, Stephanie and Brittany.

Truett Williams is Associate Pastor / Students. He joined the staff at Calvary in 1991.

Truett primarily works with both junior and senior high school students.

Truett and his wife Joanie have two children, Kaleigh and Truett.
